NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has been awarded Advanced Law Enforcement Reaccreditation with Excellence by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) during its summer meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas.

MNPD has maintained continuous accreditation since 1994 and was recently evaluated against 364 internationally recognized standards covering policies, operations, and support services. A March on-site assessment found the department in full compliance.

CALEA commissioners highlighted several MNPD initiatives, including the Partners in Care program, which pairs mental health clinicians with patrol officers, the Alternative Police Response Unit staffed by retired officers handling minor reports, and Operation 72, which targets auto theft reduction.

“For 31 years, this department has been intentional about fulfilling CALEA’s evolving accreditation requirements as part of the commitment to uphold our core pillar of organizational excellence,” said Chief John Drake.

The reaccreditation is valid for four years.
