NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Metro Nashville Police homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday morning inside an apartment near the Davidson and Williamson county line.
Officers responded to an apartment at 570 Church Street East, where they found a 24-year-old man who had been fatally shot.
The victim’s identity has not been officially released and is pending confirmation by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to investigators, the victim had been visiting a 25-year-old friend who lives at the apartment.
The 25-year-old told responding officers that he and the victim became involved in a struggle over a handgun when the weapon discharged, fatally striking the 24-year-old.
Police said the 25-year-old declined to provide a detailed interview with homicide detectives at this time.
No charges have been filed as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing.
