SOMERVILLE, Tenn. – A teenager has been arrested after investigators determined a fire that damaged a school in Somerville was intentionally set, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation began July 6 after authorities examined a fire at a school in the 12000 block of South Main Street that had occurred on July 4.
The investigation was conducted by special agent fire investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, along with the Somerville Fire Department, Somerville Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Fayette County Fire Department.
During the investigation, authorities determined the fire had been intentionally set.
Investigators identified 18-year-old David Aiden Taylor as the person responsible for setting two separate fires over a three-hour period.
On July 24, investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging Taylor with two counts of arson.
Taylor was arrested and booked into the Fayette County Jail, where his bond was set at $10,000.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reminded the public that the charges are allegations only and that Taylor is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
