HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A woman was arrested Friday night after authorities say she drove into three people while leaving an Independence Day gathering in Hamilton County.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 3 to the 8700 block of Hurricane Manor Trail following reports that pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.
Investigators said a large group of people had gathered in the neighborhood for an Independence Day celebration when a vehicle allegedly traveled down the street at a high rate of speed.
Witnesses told deputies they confronted the driver, identified as Linda Cobble, who then fled the area and struck three individuals at what investigators described as a low rate of speed.
Authorities said no injuries were reported.
Deputies later went to Cobble’s residence, where she was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center.
During the investigation, deputies learned Cobble also had an active warrant for disorderly conduct stemming from a previous, similar incident.
She has been charged with:
- Three counts of Aggravated Assault
- Three counts of Reckless Endangerment
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is preliminary and remains subject to change.
