KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A 27-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after his mother was fatally stabbed Friday afternoon on Ben Hur Avenue, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Around 3 p.m. on September 19, officers responded to Kenner Avenue and Olive Street, where they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to UT Medical Center but later died from her injuries.
Investigators determined the stabbing occurred at a home in the 300 block of Ben Hur Avenue. A witness provided a suspect description, and officers soon located Trevon Blair, the victim’s son, on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
Blair was taken into custody and questioned by homicide detectives. He is being charged with second-degree murder.
Police said the circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain under investigation.
