William Huggins and Lydia Shiew

UNION CITY, Tenn. — An Illinois parole absconder wanted for violating the terms of his release was captured in West Tennessee, and a woman accused of misleading investigators was also arrested, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

42-year-old William Huggins was arrested on June 4, 2026, by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Huggins was wanted on an absconder warrant after allegedly violating parole. Authorities said he was serving parole for a conviction of aggravated battery against a peace officer.

The search for Huggins began on Jan. 4, 2026, when the U.S. Marshals Service in the Southern District of Illinois received a request from the Illinois Department of Corrections to locate him. Investigators later developed information indicating Huggins may have fled to West Tennessee and forwarded a lead to the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson.

Deputy U.S. marshals and task force officers tracked Huggins to a residence in the 6000 block of Bell Lane in Union City.

During the operation, investigators interviewed 60-year-old Lydia Shiew who provided false information regarding Huggins’ whereabouts inside the residence. Authorities later located Huggins inside the home.

Shiew was subsequently charged with filing a false police report.

Both Huggins and Shiew were taken into custody and transported to the Obion County Jail.

The U.S. Marshals Service said the arrest highlights the ongoing cooperation between state correctional agencies and federal fugitive task forces in locating and apprehending wanted offenders.
