Lebanon Man Charged With Criminal Homicide After Woman Found Dead in Apartment

LEBANON, Tenn. — A Lebanon man has been charged with criminal homicide after a woman was found dead inside an apartment Saturday night.

Officers with the Lebanon Police Department responded on June 20, 2026, to the Hartmann Plantation Apartments in the 2000 block of Hartmann Plantation Court following a report of a possible shooting.

When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased woman inside one of the apartments. Investigators said the victim appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound.

As detectives began investigating the incident, 57-year-old Jerry Mathews of Lebanon was taken into custody at the scene.

Mathews was arrested and charged with Criminal Homicide.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was an isolated domestic incident involving family members.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of family members and have not disclosed additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Lebanon Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy,” the department said in a statement.
