A 59-year-old woman critically injured in a Nashville hit and run crash Saturday evening has died, Metro Nashville police said Tuesday.

59-year-old Andrea Orr of Nashville was in the crosswalk at Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard and Buchanan Street when a car hit her around 5:50 p.m. Saturday, October 24, police said.

Police identified the driver as 19-year-old Danielle McKell. Investigators said McKell drove away after she and other people in the area moved Orr to the sidewalk.

North Precinct officers did not learn of the crash until someone flagged them down at 10:40 p.m. Officers then sent Orr to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.

Driver identified Monday

Traffic Division Officer Christopher Augustin led the investigation that identified McKell as the driver on Monday, police said.

McKell has received two state citations. They charge her with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk resulting in serious injury.

Police said they have talked with the District Attorney’s Office and expect the charges to be upgraded in the near future. The department did not say what the new charges will be.

The charges against McKell are accusations. Police have not said whether she has an attorney or a court date.
