Metro Nashville police are asking the public to help identify a hit-and-run driver who struck a 59-year-old woman in a crosswalk Saturday evening near Dr. DB Todd Jr. Boulevard and Buchanan Street. The woman remains in critical condition.
Crash Investigations officers said the crash happened at 5:50 p.m. The driver stayed for several minutes, then left. Nobody called police.
North Precinct officers did not find the woman until 10:40 p.m., when someone flagged them down about an unconscious woman lying on the sidewalk near the intersection. Officers gave her Narcan, and when she did not respond, they took her to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.
Camera footage shows the crash
Detectives reviewed camera footage and saw the woman walking in the crosswalk when a dark-colored 4-door sedan hit her. Police said a Black woman wearing a purple shirt and light-colored pants drove the car.
According to police, the driver got out of the sedan. With help from other people in the area, she lifted the pedestrian off the roadway and put her on the sidewalk. The driver then left. The injured woman stayed on the sidewalk for hours until officers arrived.
