KNOXVILLE, TN – Detectives with the Knoxville Police Department are investigating a violent assault that left a woman hospitalized Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex in Knoxville.
Police said officers responded around 1:30 p.m. on May 21 to the Southside Flats Apartments at 2727 Fort Stanley Way after receiving reports of an assault inside the apartment office.
According to investigators, a 48-year-old woman reported that an unknown man entered the office and struck her multiple times with a tire iron before fleeing the scene.
The suspect was described as a Black male with dreadlocks and glasses.
Authorities said responding officers conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
The victim suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said the circumstances leading up to the assault remain unclear, and no arrests have been made.
