NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A convicted felon wanted on an attempted murder warrant has been arrested after a Metro Nashville police officer recognized him during an overnight patrol.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, South Precinct Officer Embree York spotted 29-year-old Kenneth S. Watt at the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Spence Lane. Knowing Watt was wanted in connection with a May 25 shooting, Officer York took him into custody without incident.
Investigators said Watt was wanted for the early morning shooting of 33-year-old Julian Pinkston in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 97 Wallace Road in Nashville.
Following his arrest, Watt admitted to officers that he sells drugs in the area. Police recovered quantities of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and marijuana from his possession.
During a subsequent interview with detectives, Watt admitted to shooting Pinkston, telling investigators the victim had stolen from him. Pinkston survived the shooting, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police said Watt has prior convictions for aggravated assault and robbery in Lake County and Hamilton County, Tennessee.
In addition to attempted murder, Watt is charged with use of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine.
Watt is being held on a $146,000 bond.
