CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — A Cumberland County man has been indicted on an arson charge following an investigation into a fire that investigators say was intentionally set.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced that special agent fire investigators, working alongside the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, investigated a fire that occurred on Aug. 28, 2025, in the 800 block of Turner Road in Crossville.
During the investigation, authorities determined the fire had been intentionally set. Investigators later presented evidence to a Cumberland County grand jury alleging that 43-year-old Toby Lynn Turner was responsible for starting the fire.
Last week, the grand jury returned an indictment charging Turner with one count of arson.
On June 19, Turner was arrested by the Overton County Sheriff’s Office and transferred to the Cumberland County Jail. His bond was set at $100,000.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation emphasized that the indictment contains allegations only. Turner is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
