Robert Dunaway Jr.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A Tennessee man wanted on aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape charges was arrested in Alabama following a joint fugitive investigation involving the U.S. Marshals Service and local law enforcement agencies.

Robert Dunaway Jr., 31, of Lexington, Tennessee, was taken into custody on June 5, 2026, outside a shopping mall in Huntsville, Alabama, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The arrest stems from an investigation conducted by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office into allegations that resulted in arrest warrants being issued for Dunaway on May 15, 2026, in Henderson County General Sessions Court.

After the warrants were issued, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson to locate and apprehend Dunaway.

Investigators determined that Dunaway had fled Tennessee and was believed to be in Alabama. The information was shared with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which continued the search.

Deputy U.S. marshals assigned to the Gulf Coast task force located and arrested Dunaway without incident outside the Huntsville mall.

Dunaway was transported to the Madison County Jail in Alabama, where he is being held pending extradition proceedings to return him to Tennessee.

The investigation involved cooperation between the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force, and the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
