MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Safe Task Force reached a major milestone this week, surpassing 10,000 arrests and recovering 1,708 illegal firearms since the operation launched in September 2025.

During enforcement operations conducted June 9, 2026, task force members executed 42 arrests and seized eight additional firearms, according to officials.

“This is a significant milestone for the dedicated men and women working around the clock to end street and violent crime in Memphis,” said Tyreece Miller, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Tennessee. “By removing these illicit firearms from Memphis streets and making 10,000 arrests, we have achieved unprecedented results, not just for the Task Force, but for all the residents and visitors to our beloved city. I am extremely proud of the work they have done and that they will continue to do to fulfill the President’s pledge.”

Among the notable arrests made Tuesday was 18-year-old Cory Hemphill, who was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Parkway East. Hemphill is charged with reckless homicide in connection with a February incident.

In a separate case, 19-year-old Andrew Delatorre was arrested in South Gate, California, after Memphis Safe Task Force investigators developed information indicating he had fled the state. Investigators coordinated with the U.S. Marshals Service in Los Angeles, which located and arrested Delatorre. He had been indicted on May 24 on multiple child sex crime charges, including rape of a minor.

Christopher Sanders, 44, was arrested at an apartment in the 130 block of North Evergreen Street on a domestic violence assault charge. Following his arrest, investigators conducted a consent search and recovered two handguns.

Authorities also arrested Lysander Davis, 59, and Trey Davis, 25, in the 1300 block of Farrow Road on firearms and narcotics charges. Officers seized approximately 26 pounds of marijuana, three semi-automatic handguns, and an AK-47-style rifle during the operation.

The Memphis Safe Task Force was established in September 2025 as a multi-agency initiative focused on reducing violent crime, apprehending fugitives, recovering illegal firearms, and locating missing children throughout the Memphis area.

Officials said the operation continues to target individuals involved in violent crime and illegal firearm possession across the city.
