Memphis Police Officer Dies Following Off-Duty Vehicle Crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Daniel Adams, who died following an off-duty vehicle crash on June 18, 2026.

According to the department, Officer Adams was involved in a single-vehicle accident in which he was the sole occupant and only victim. Additional details regarding the circumstances of the crash have not been released.

Adams joined the Memphis Police Department in 2016 and served the citizens of Memphis for nearly a decade. At the time of his death, he was assigned to Tillman Station.

The department announced his passing Friday and expressed condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Officer Adams,” Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis said in a statement. “He dedicated his career to serving others, and his passing is a tremendous loss to our department. We ask the community to keep his family, friends, and fellow officers in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The Memphis Police Department said Adams’ commitment to public service and his contributions to the city will be remembered by those who worked alongside him and the community he served.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
